Scavenger Hunt
Get the kids and adults working together in teams or split up everyone individually for this great game. Scavenger Hunt can be set up ahead of time before party goers arrive for the celebration.
What You Will Need
-3x5 Index Cards
-Magic Marker
How To Play
Have everyone figure out a Labor Day mystery story or have people gather Labor Day related items. Write clues on the index cards and give everyone their first clue to begin the hunt with. You can have people gather all different kids of Labor Day items and decorations. The first person or team of people to gather all the items is the winner. You could do a Labor Day mystery story where people gather clues and figure out the final question. Take your guests on a history of Labor Day and where the holiday came from during your Scavenger Hunt. Include your yard and house for people to roam around and find new clues.
Telephone
This is a game that has been around for a long time. However, let's put a Labor Day twist on it this year and add it to our holiday weekend. You can sit around the picnic table or in lawn chairs and play. This game can be played with children and adults.
What You Will Need
-Sentences about Labor Day
-Past Labor Day memories
How To Play
Whisper something in the person's ear who is sitting closest to you. That person then tells the person sitting next to them and so on. See if your sentence is the same as when you told the first person. Try whispering past memories from other Labor Day weekends with family and friends. You could also gather Labor Day weekend facts and tidbits to whisper as well. Be creative and watch the laughter start to flow.
Sand or Water Relay
There are several variations on this classic game. You can use sand, water, dirt, sugar, bar-b-q sauce, or just about anything you can imagine that is hard to hold onto. Try having people use their hands, spoons with slots, or cups with holes in them to carry and pass the item from person to person.
What You Will Need
-Buckets and containers full of sand or water
-Plate or bowl, one for each team
-Something for guests to carry the sand or water in if they are not using their hands
How To Play
Break your Labor Day party guests up into teams of 4 or more. Line the people up with a bucket on one side of the line and a plate at the other. Have people grab a handful of sand and pass it to the person next to them. That person then passes it to the person next to him until the handful of sand eventually makes it to the plate. Whoever has the most sand on their plate at the end of your time limit is the winner.
Tip: Get gifts for the winners of your games. Get items that are appropriate for your guests ages and genders.

Labor Day Game Board
Divide the guests into 2 teams....make a "game board" with poster board and post it notes. Have general cooking questions, questions about your friends/family/company, just whatever you'd like to have talked about....the game can be as long or as short as you'd like just adjust the number of questions. Give the winning team GREAT party favors and the second place team lesser favors, but give something to everyone...It's been a huge hit at my parties!!
Without a Pair
The players make 2 circles: the inner one and the outer one. In the inner circle the number of the players is more by one than in the outer circle. As the music plays all the players walk to the right. As the music stops the players must make pairs. The player who hasn't pair fulfils any task. Then the game continues.
Who is He/She?
As the guests are given the envelopes. The boys are given blue envelopes, the girls white ones. In all the envelopes there are halves of the cards and leaflets with the following text: "In the envelope there is a half of the card. The missing part of it has someone who is present here. Try to find him/her. The first 3 pairs get prizes. Good luck!" it's better to use cards with the pictures of flowers in this game. Cut the cards in zigzag line. Then put the halves - one into the white envelope and another into the blue one. You may manage without the envelopes. In this case put a poster with the rules of the game on the wall.

Beanbag pitch is a fun outside game that is ideal for Labor Day. This one is in teams of different sizes by old and young alike. However, both teams need to be similar in numbers so one team does not have an unreasonable benefit. All that is needed is a few bags of beans and something to catch them in such as a basket or a box.
Take turns standing back from the object the teams are tossing in, and score points for how close it is. Making it into the box is 10 points, hitting the outside is 5 and if the bag does not hit the box, the team scores nothing. Beanbags are simple to create, if you do not have beans use uncooked whole corn or even corncobs
Red Neck horseshoes is an excellent game to play as well on Labor Day. This fun outside game is played with a metal pipe like the one would have in a standard horseshoe pit but as an alternative you use toilet seats. If you are not sure, what this fun game is all about check out this video. People of all ages can enjoy this one.
Fortune hunt can be great fun every guests who attends. Make sure the hints are age appropriate, easy to guess, and offer small gifts for each winner. You can pair up a child with an adult to create teamwork, but it is up to you as the host.
Piñata, and it is just the thing for a fun-filled Labor Day party. For children, you can fill the piñata with pencils, pens, stickers, or other small gifts to help them have a good time this Labor Day in style.
If you only have adults at the celebration, fill the piñata with small adult-natured gifts. Only fill it with these if the adult friends have a sense of humor. Fill the piñata with riches from the adult bookstore. Visualize the looks of your friends when they scramble for their prizes.
